We're in favour of safe and legal cannabis access for adults in Kingston.
We want kingston city council to opt in to retail recreational cannabis sales in January 2019.
Who we are
We are a group of private concerned citizens and businesses who are deeply concerned that Kingston City Council will be opting out of legal retail cannabis sales in Kingston.
We worry that children will continue to have unrestricted access to cannabis.
We worry that adults will have less access to government regulated and quality tested cannabis.
We worry that we are missing out on a huge tourist economy, because people will skip dry cities.
We worry that Kingston City Hall is inviting the black market to stay in Kingston.
We are concerned that Kingston will receive no part of the excise tax generated.
We are concerned about the recent robberies and violence at nearby unregulated dispensaries.
What we do
Encourage Kingston City Council to OPT IN to legal cannabis sales ensuring safe cannabis access for adults in the community.
Act as liaison between municipal, provincial and federal governments to ensure that Kingston City Council has all the appropriate information they need to make an informed decision and feel comfortable OPTING IN to legal cannabis sales.
Provide Kingston City Council with navigation regarding the implementation of the Cannabis Act both federally and provincially.
Take the lead in community engagement and education on safe adult use of cannabis and cannabis products.
Encourage the replacement of opiates and other drugs with cannabis to help stem the overdose crisis.
Encourage the implementation of sensible guidelines and regulations for private retailers to operate so that child and youth access to recreational cannabis is eliminated in Kingston.
Give families the tools to have honest discussions about cannabis use with children, teens and young adults.
Make safe access to legal cannabis a reality for Kingston!
